Why do I have irritation after a brazilian wax?

It was fine the week after--now the hair is growing back and it has red bumps (they look like razor burn/ingrown hair even though I have been exfoliating and everything) and a lot of irritation. Is there any kind of cream I can use to get rid of the red bumps? Would it be bad to shave off the hair growing back? I really need the area smooth and attractive within the next week, if you get my drift...Why do I have irritation after a brazilian wax?
Lotion the area really well. It might not be a terrible idea to get some body oil and use that. Your skin is probably dry, irritated, suffering ingrown hairs, and possibly surface damage from the waxing process itself. Take very very good care of the skin down there as it's very delicate. Waxing is a traumatic process for your skin and is a really terrible idea if you are prone to ingrown hair or skin dryness (actually, it's a pretty terrible idea for anyone, but it's especially bad for those people). Gentle exfoliation followed by really thorough moisturizing is your best bet. Don't shave or pluck or wax or depilate or anything until your skin is no longer irritated. It's just going to make things unbelievably painful, red, and unpleasant if you do.
